In 1993 the successful pop composer and producer Günther Behrle raised the band. She was supposed to play instrumental new images of hits and evergreens in the saxophone sound in the style of Billy Vaughn (Sail Along Silv'ry Moon). They are considered "the epitome of 'light music'".
The seven -member group with three saxophonists often changed the occupation over the years. In the mid -2000s, the singing saxophones had their breakthrough. In 2003 they took part in the Grand Prix of folk music with the instrumental title written by Behrle. Place their albums in the official German album charts. The following year they won the German Grand Prix preliminary decision and took 6th place in the final.
In the following years, the band was able to regularly place albums in the charts and advance into the top 30. Mandolins and moonlight, Santa Lucia and the world tour were each awarded gold for 100,000 copies sold. In 2008 they were also able to repeat the victory in the Grand Prix preliminary decision.
The majority of Captain Cook's repertoire and its singing saxophones make saxophone versions of well -known hits, oldies and instrumental pieces from the 50s to the present day. In addition, they also play some own compositions by Günther Behrle and, after a singer with Freddy Paulheim, a singer had also joined the band with Freddy Paulheim, since 2006 there have also been a few vocal pieces such as the Grand Prix contribution. In 2013 Captain Cook and his singing saxophones celebrated their 20th anniversary.
